Today there are many various VOIP services available in the world. Some of them are popular in America, others in China or in the Middle East.
We decided to find out what are the most popular Voice over Internet Protocol solutions in Morocco.
We analyzed Skype, Viber, WhatsApp, Line and SnapChat.
Skype is the application that provides video chat and voice call services.
It was founded in 2003.
Works for Windows, Linus, iOS, Android, Fire OS, Nokia X.
Viber is an instant messaging service and Voice over IP (VoIP) app for smartphones. In addition to instant messaging, Viber users can send images, video and audio media messages.
Viber is available for iOS, Android, BlackBerry OS, Nokia Series 40, Symbian, Bada, Windows Phone, Mac OS, and Microsoft Windows.
Viber was launched in 2010.
WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform instant messaging client for smartphones.
WhatsApp users can send text messages, documents, images, video, user location and audio media messages via Internet to other users using standard cellular mobile numbers.
As of February 2016, WhatsApp had a user base of up to one billion, making it the most globally popular messaging application.
It was founded in 2009 and it was acquired by Facebook in 2014.
Line is Japan messenger launched in 2011. It lets users exchange texts, images, video and audio, and conduct free VoIP conversations and video conferences.
Line was originally developed as a mobile application for Android and iOS smartphones. The service has since expanded to BlackBerry (August 2012), Nokia Asha (Asia and Oceania, March 2013), Windows Phone (July 2013), Firefox OS (February 2014), iOS tablets (October 2014), and as a Chrome Browser Application (via the Chrome Web Store). At one point Line was available as a website (non-browser-app), but that has been discontinued. The application also exists in versions for laptop and desktop computers using the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS platforms.
Snapchat is a video messaging application that started its life from 2011.
Its users can send photos, record videos, add a filter, “Lens”, text, or sketch overlay to a controlled list of recipients. These sent photographs and videos are known as “Snaps”.
SnapChat is very popular among young audience – between 13 and 23 years old.

Its popularity is rising rapidly after it was bought by Facebook.
Unfortunately, all VOIP services were banned in Morocco recently.
